SARASOTA, FL – A toddler was injured in an accident involving a sight-seeing tram in Sarasota Saturday night, according to WTSP.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the 3-year-old girl fell from her seat on the tram while on a tour of Myakka River State Park with her parents shortly before 2 p.m. The child was hit by the trailer’s front tire and was run over a second time when the driver reversed the vehicle to remove her.
The girl, a Venice resident, was seriously injured in the accident. She was taken to a nearby boat ramp and then transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The tram was moving at idle speed when the incident occurred, state troopers said.
