TAMPA, FL – Authorities charged a former deputy with two counts of DUI manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash on the Courtney Campbell Causeway on April 13.
According to ABC Action News, Joshua Roelofs, 33, was driving Nissan GT-R at around 100 mph when he collided with the rear of a Kia Sorrento around 3:42 a.m. The impact caused the Kia to roll over. Nobody inside the Kia was wearing a seatbelt and all four were launched from the vehicle in the wreck.
First responders pronounced two people from the Kia dead at the scene and transported two people to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Police officers arrested Roelofs on Monday and charged him with two counts of DUI serious bodily injury and two counts of DUI manslaughter.
