CLEARWATER, FL – A trooper was injured when an impaired driver crashed into his vehicle on US 19 near Hammock Pine Blvd Saturday.
According to ABC Action News, the trooper was investigating a crash on US 19 and had his vehicle parked on the side of the road with its emergency lights flashing when Tamico Luwyll Gilbert, 47, slammed his Toyota Highlander into the rear of the officer’s cruiser just before 12 a.m. The force of the impact knocked the officer to the ground.
The trooper and Gilbert both suffered minor injuries in the collision. Officers arrested Gilbert after being treated at the hospital and charged him with DUI property damage, DUI injury, and DWI.
