Driver fleeing from police fatally collides with vehicle on George J. Bean Pkwy

TAMPA, FL – A driver fleeing from police died after colliding with another vehicle on George J. Bean Pkwy near Tampa International Airport Saturday.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, a 33-year-old male was driving a Lexus ES300 erratically on I-275 at around 1:14 a.m when a trooper attempted to pull him over. The driver fled from the trooper at high speeds.

The driver stopped by the Tampa International Airport to drop off two women before reversing the Lexus and slamming into the front of a patrol vehicle.

The driver then headed the wrong way down the George J. Bean Pkwy, colliding with a northbound Chevy Silverado, driven by a 46-year-old man, head-on. The collision sent the truck into a guardrail, injuring the driver.

First responders transported the Lexus driver to an area hospital, where he died.

Authorities have not released the name of the drivers involved in the collision.
