OLDSMAR, FL – A driver fatally collided with a 6-year-old child at W St Petersburg Dr near Bayview Blvd Saturday, according to WTSP.
Eric Hoppes, 40, was driving a Nissan Altima on westbound St Petersburg Dr as Yanitz Ortega, 40, was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk with her 10-year-old daughter and 6-year-old daughter. Hoppes hit the entire family.
First responders were called to the scene just before 7:20 p.m. They transported the family to an area hospital, where the six-year-old girl was pronounced dead. Ortega and the 10-year-old daughter suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The police are investigating the incident.
